Stay at home dads definately have a harder time than mothers. Society have a preconception that a fathers role is to be the primary earner and if he is not than somehow something must be wrong with him. Typically their first reaction is that he must be lazy. In the end your family comes before any of society's biases.

I'm in agreement with this answer. Most of us know it's far from the truth, but when employers have a number of applicants, they will think these incorrect things about the dad who'd been out of the work force for a while, I'm pretty sure. I know a work at home dad and although he hasn't tried to enter the traditional work force yet, he already knows what people will think of his saying "I spent the last 10 years as a stay-at-home dad."
I guess the most important thing is that the guy hold his head high when saying it and know that a GOOD employer won't care about that and will only care about the work he can do.
