Conception over 30
My husband and I have two children from a previous marraige, we have raised them together and the word "step" never enters in, but recently we've decided to try to have a baby and I'm a bit scared. I'm over 35 and he's over 40. Any advide or tips for getting pregnant over 30?

Good luck! I had one in my twenties and one at 30. The one at thirty took a lot more out of me, but everyone's experiences are different.

Just regularly consult with your doctor. My mom's last baby, which is my sister of course, was born when she was 40-ish. She was able to make it through, fighting and strong. Ohhh, I miss her already!

There are three issues here as I see. It's a case of can you have a baby physically (ie can your bodu handle it) and secondly can you and your husband handle it as you are not as young as you were with your first children. And thirdly can your marriage handle the child? Are you ready to do the nappies at 3Am again?

But maybe there is some truth to "Life begins at 40"

I actually got pregnant much quicker in my 30's. When I got pregnant with my son I was 25 and it took 6 months. When I got pregnant with my daughter I was 32 and it took only 1 week. I think the mnost important thing is to try and not stress over it. Just try and relax and things will happen.

I think a lot of people have healthy pregnancies and children over 30 these days.

I think that people in there 30's are just as strong and healthy in most cases to have babies. Depending on your health and if you are ready to do the 3am feedings and such. I think its great that older couples are having babies today. If your ready then go for it. Don't be scared because of age, age is just a number. Good luck to you and your husband.

Today many people have children well into your 30's. I believe it is a lot safer than it used to be since there is such excellent prenatal care available.

We just had our 3rd baby. I just turned 35. I had a great pregnancy and delivery. Just be sure to take good care of yourself before getting pregnant and during pregnancy.

Not sure if you took folic acid with the first, but it is usually advisable to take it for 3 months before conception - minimizes a bunch of risks
