I don't drink either, but I have made sure that my kids saw examples of responsible drinking and they were given plenty of information about alcohol.

Drink and kids remind me of something that happened when our daughter was still living at home, and had just started going steady with a very nice guy.
She had invited him to come over to hang out and get to know us.
We had gone to the store and bought a bottle of wine (not for that night), and I managed to drop it and it went all over the kitchen floor, underneath the refrigerator and stove. We were mopping it up when our daughter came home. She took one sniff and went spare. If she ever wanted to kill us, that was the moment she would have done it.
She absolutely wouldn't have her boyfriend inside the house that night, she was so embarrassed. She made up a lie about me having a migraine and they went to the movies instead. She did give us a backhanded compliment. She didn't want her boyfriend to smell the wine and think we were "losers". So I guess we drank in front of her in the moderation she liked, not in a loser-like way.
