Dealing With Temper Tantrums
Kids have temper tantrums, it's natural and a way for them to try to get their way. I hate them.

The worst thing is when they have a tantrum outside in public.

When my kids were small and they started having a tantrum outside I would tell them to stop and explain if they didn't we would go back home. If they didn't stop I would take their hand and take them home even if they were screaming as we were walking.

Once home I would tell them that if something was bothering them or making them unhappy they would have to tell me. I also explained that I was very happy to sit at home with them no matter how much they yelled.

I would also tell them that if they had a screaming fit in public again they would be punished by not being allowed to go out except for school.

If I had to go out I would find someone to stay with them in the house.

This actually did work. They knew I would do exactly what I said I would do and the tantrums stopped.
