Bed Time Routine
How do you get your children to go to bed without a war breaking out?

I'm surprised when my friends tell me that it's a regular ordeal to get their kids to go to bed.

When my kids were small I tried to make the evening hours a time for my kids. First I gave them a calming bath where we talked about their day and the best thing they did that day. Then they put on their PJ's and we read two stories together.

By the end of the stories they were practically asleep already.

The evening hours were the best part of the day for me. It gave me a chance to get closer to them and they to me.

That's amazing skatss, I feel sleepy myself from simply reading your evening hours routine, very calming indeed and you sound like a great mother.
Unfortunately for me and my daughter, we don't really have a routine and we just go to bed when we are tired. Although, I would like to develop a routine with her as well because I love being with her and spending time with her but me being pregnant for the past two consecutive years, I just have had no time.
Usually I am always tired, and I seriously am very disappointed with myself for wasting all of the time I could possibly have had spent bonding with my daughter, I totally envy you.

Mommy in Pink , every mother in your situation would feel the same way ,however there is not much to be done to change that situation considering your pregnancy . Yes, it would have been perfect if you had more time and strength in the evening to have a routine bed time with your daughter ...but who said that things are perfect in this world ?
The fact that we desire for our kids the best for them it doesn't mean that all the time we will be able to do that .

Hey! That's what I do with my daughter! Even though I don't put her to sleep by reading the bed time story to her, she will get the signal once the story is over. I guess that she knows what is expected from her from the routine story telling that I have given to her for months. Kid does learn fast.
