Children and TV
What do you think of children watching TV?

I find that it calms mine down and relaxes them, great for if they and fighting or crying. I also find that they have learned to read numbers from watching children's TV.

I guess it can be a great past-time for children whose parents are too busy to do certain activities with them during the day.
My daughter myself watches TV most of the time, since she is the only child in the house, she is often bored just playing by herself and usually ends up watching some cartoons for entertainment.

I would love to see her play in the park, and do something more productive, but since I cannot bring her there I am not one to deprive her of the only activity she finds fun at home.

Too much TV however could be bad for the child, so I try to set boundaries in this area.

I find that the boys often ask for the TV on and as I am working all day then it does make things easier for me. I do not play with the that much or take them to the park very often but I feel that they have happy lives and when we do these things it makes them very special. I have come across children who are so used to being continuously stimulated that they get bored very easily and I am not sure that is something that I could cope with at the moment.

That is how it is with my daughter as well, when we do those outdoor activities that she doesn't get to do very often they become very special occasions. She looks forward to them and enjoys every minute of her time because she knows she doesn't get to have those days that much.

Usually she ends up begging not to leave yet when it is time to go and I completely understand where she is coming from.

Aww that must be so nice for you when she wants to be out and spending more time with you.

Yes it is a nice feeling to have her value so much these times that we spend together, however I also feel guilty why I sometimes deprive her of this kind of happiness and enjoyment which I know every kid deserves. We don't get to do these things so very often, and sometimes it makes me feel like a bad parent somehow because I know that there are a lot of parents out there who do these activities with their children everyday.

But since I am pregnant, I am always usually tired or too "not-up-for-it" that we only get to do these things very seldom.
