we are trying to use an allowance
it doent always work though. Our daughter has a few chores, of course she is older, but with both of us working we need her to do these few things.
So we had a deal going of 35 dollars amonth allwoance of she took down teh trash, did waht ever dishes adn cast iron pan was used, wash towels if t there are none. not many chores. and she is 19.
she doesnt do them, so often she goes without allowance.

Iy works if the kid understands that thsi is like a trial mini job, but you dont have the nonsense and you get cash top spend as you like.

I wish it did work as well as the concept.

35 dollars a month isnt something to really look forward to if she is oly getting it once a month.Maybe you should try and break that down.

My daughter is still 5 years old and isn't really aware of the value of money as much as our pet dogs, so we haven't started giving her an allowance just yet, but I do give her money every now and then because she enjoys "collecting" the coins. She feels that these coins are a lot of money, and so she keeps them safe.

That is very true - I definitely intend to make sure that all the money they get is saved up until they start to ask about money and understand the importance of it.

I would love for my daughter to learn how to save before learning how to spend, but I would probably have no idea on how to implement this when the time comes that she's old enough to understand the value of a penny. I, myself, can sometimes be very loose on money even though we do not have much, I only hope I can be a better example in the days to come.
