My oldest is 10 & is best disciplined through logic, grounding, & on rare occasions, spanking. I am trying to get her back on track too because my parents had physical custody of her for several months & they are very lax when it comes to any kind of discipline. So she was allowed to do just about anything she wanted. She's been back with me for the past 2 years, and there are times when I can see my parents' influence, but she's getting alot better with behaving.

My 2 year old used to respond well to spankings, but now she just ignores them & goes on her way, doing whatever she wants. We are currently trying a combination of swats & time-outs. The time-outs seem to work better some days. Hopefully by the time my 6 month old really needs disciplining, we'll have figured out something that works.

I don't spank because I don't feel my children deserve to be spanked. I will if I felt that they absolutely deserved it, but I will definitely not if I felt otherwise.

Sometimes, the method of spanking only applies to a certain type of child. There are kids who are good, respectful kids and these are the kinds who don't deserve this kind of method, because usually their mistakes will only be from accidents.

However, there is another group of kids who can be very incorrigible, all naughty and disrespectful, and this is where I believe the method of spanking should apply.
