Do time outs work
My daugther is not old enough for this but do time outs actually work when used consistantly?

Watching 'super nanny', the naughty spot/step/corner worked wonders

They worked very well with my son starting about 2 1/2 years old. We would make him sit on the stairs and use the kitchen timer. Any complaints or trying to get away added a minute to the timer.

I think they do but when you first start doing them they require alot of patients. Your child will most likely keep getting up before time is up. You just have to calmly put them back in timeout until they understand that the only way they are going to get through with it is to stay put until the time is up. It can be most trying at first, but very much worth it in the end.

This idea is good , but it really requires a lot of patience . I tried it and i was more fed up of it than my son was actually

Well you have to be more patient. You can not be outdone by your children.
You have to remeber that while you are watching them, they are also watching and learning from you, and sometimes they will test you to see how much they can get away with.

Just hang in there

Time outs or exclusion is a great idea aslong as it is all forgotten once the punishment is complete and not dragged on. Maybe times should be set on the time outs so it is then clear that it is over.

I think it also depends on the child. My oldest did not do well on time outs. My middle son does quite well, all it really takes for him is the warning of a time out and he changes his behavior.

I will try this when the time comes. I guess it cannot hurt to give it a try and see if it is effective.

You can also do something like "TV time out" or "video game time out" or "toy time out" which means the child can go about normally, just without being able to play their favorite way.
