Nursery Themes... What Fun!!

One of the things I enjoyed about pregnancy most was doing the nursery. We started with the obligatory greens and yellows for unknown gender but THEN my daughter wanted to arrive 5 weeks early so I could add the "girly" things to the room very easily since we hadn't been finished yet.

What was your nursery theme? Mine was cherubs and other Victorian things and colors.

I was in a sand-painting class when my mom was pregnant with my little brother. For the nursery, I did a Puff the Magic Dragon sand-painting, which hung in his nursery and bedroom for a long time.
When my son was born, she gave me Puff to hang in his room. It was nice to have that hand-me-down, kind of like a tradition in the making.

I have never taken any notice of that sort of thing. Both daughters had blue themes, but by the time my son arrived things had become a lot more girly so he had to get in touch with his feminine side!

It was nice creating the nursery, but very soon the children had their own ideas and their rooms were decorated the way they wanted them.

That is *so* cool! Does Puff still exist somewhere? My mom gave me some
ceramic pieces I painted and I still have them displayed. I'm a bit hesitant to
have them out but one piece is a cherub vase in mother of pearl, and I
always have it in use, so I just have to hope no one breaks it. (Yes, there's
that cherub theme again... I collect angels.) :-)

We had some blue stuff for my daughter, too... and there was a period of time she chose playing with cars over dolls and loved those cars. I'm so glad things have changed in that area for the most part.

My daughter has never liked girly colours, so it is just as well that her nursery was decorated in a blue and yellow teddy bear theme. She has always liked blue.

So has mine. And when she grew out of the nursery and was a toddler, she choose a bright sunny yellow for her bedroom walls. Now that we've moved, her walls are light blue.

New parents should make the most of choosing colours for their child because within a couple of years they will have very firm ideas of their own!

That is true, at age 2 my daughter demanded that the teddies theme had to go because she wanted the room to have a Thunderbirds theme, she loved Thunderbirds.
