Breastfeeding Tips

I know nursing for the first time can be very challenging. I have found a site that has proven quite helpful to most. I am now breastfeeding for the 3rd time and would be happy to share my experiences and knowledge on the subject as well. Feel free to ask me if you are having difficulties or issues. I am by no means an expert but I am happy to help if I can.

Here is the site.. Hope it is helpful.

It can be quite challenging at first. I almost gave it up, but 9 months later we are still going strong, and I am so glad that I "toughed it out". That is an excellent resource.

I, personally, am not a fan of breastfeeding. I have absolutely nothing against it and admire the women who (as moonmagick put it) "toughed-it-out" for I can only imagine the soreness and swelling lasting for months, and I applaud them for being very selfless human-beings, but as for me, it was a really hard experience and it simply hurt me everyday even up to a point where I would wake up in the morning and realize that I could not move because of the pain.

I would get sick everyday because there's no keeping my shirt dry, no matter what I did to prevent the flow, the milk just would not stop from dropping and I felt like a total mess. I felt sticky and I smelled like milk.

I am at awe for the mothers who are able to do this for a long period of time, but breastfeeding is not for me.

I felt very sad that I didn't breast feed. I had no milk for over a week and at the hospital no one showed me how to do it properly. Then they told me that the twins were having trouble maintaining their body temperature so I needed to decide whether it was better to bottle feed them and so I did. Then on returning home, when my milk eventually came in I had no idea that I could have tried again at feeding them. I now feel guilty that I did not try.

I may sound like a very ignorant parent, but I am not exactly an "expert" at positioning the baby just so that she'd be able to drink milk from my breast in a simple and not complicated manner.
I found everything complicated when it came to breastfeeding. Aside from my chest being sore all the time, I also did not know how to position the baby correctly, or how to hold her so she'd be comfortable.

I felt that she was not able to drink in any of my milk, and so I decided to bottle-feed her because it made me feel better seeing that the bottle was getting empty (which meant she was actually drinking something).

I also tried putting my milk into bottles and feeding her with them, but my chest pains got the best out of me and since I was always sick I decided to stop bothering.
