My grandmother used to put a little bit of sugar on a saucer and give me a stick of raw rhubarb to dip in it, I loved it.

I did that too, I loved eating it like that. We did the same with gooseberries straight from the bush too. Grandma always said it was OK to eat thing straight from the garden, she used to sat 'you have to eat a peck of muck before you die'. It didn't do me any harm.

Isn't it the best feeling to know that your grandkids (or kids) like the way you do something better than anyone else? It's wonderful!
Awww! That's so sweet! Have you thought about recording your voice singing it for him so he can hear you ever night? Of course the clicking of the tape turning off would wake him again if he's like I aways was.

I'm not ready to have grandchildren yet but when I do I'm sure I'll spoil them just as much as is allowed!

I wish I'd thought of that...! I think there's away you can make a "loop" of the song and put it on a CD that would play until the most stubborn of kids are asleep.
We'll be visiting them this fall, and if he still wants lullabies I will take up your idea for when we leave.

This is one of the best memories I have of spending time during the summers with my grandparents. I did the raw peas thing, too, but best of all was strawberries. I think more of them got into my mouth than into the dish I was supposed to be using for picking.
