Chicken Pox
Well, today my son started breaking out in a rash on his stomach. My husband took him to the clinic (with it being Sunday our Doctor is not working today) and they think that it might be chicken pox. I think (and this may just be wishful thinking on my part) that the doctor may be wrong. He has no fever or anything else that goes along with chicken pox and he is not itching. These spots do not look like blisters. They look more like what he used to get on his face, which his Dr just said that was do to sensitive skin. He will go see his Dr tomorrow and see what she says.

But I have never had chicken pox and never had the shots for them either. if he does have them, is there anything that I can do to protect myself from them. I have heard that chicken pox in adults can be very, very bad.

Thanks!

Just a little update on this situation. My son does have chicken pox but they are very mild. He has had the vaccine but the DR said that it is only 60% effective. So he has them but since they are so mild they may not burst and if they do not burst he is not contagious. But because we won't know for awhile he is not allowed to return to school. he only has four days left. He thinks that it is pretty cool he got to start his summer break before everyone else. lol

I have personally had chicken pox as a child and remember it as a rather unpleasnt (mostly itchy) experience.

As far as being contagious, I'm not 100% sure of the facts, but is chicken pox not quite a lot more dangerous to adults and even more so to senior citizens? I think you and your hubby should be carefull and try and keep the grandparents away untill you are 100% he is not contegaous.

When I met my partner he told me he got shot in the face with an air rifle. He had six peppered pot hole marks on his forehead above his eyebrow. I believed him for over a year until I met his sister who mentioned his scaring from Chicken pox when he was a boy.........he really had me with that one.

Yes, I have read that as well. I am worried because I have never had them, but my husband has. So he is ok. The good thing is that my son has such a mild case they are not busting. They are just disappearing and from what I have read the most contagious part of CP is the fluid in the pox. So that is a relief at least.
