Katharina, I hope your friend's daughter gets well again very soon, this must be a very frightening time for them.

Unfortunately, your immune system has to already have a few virus specific antibodies for the zinc or C to lessen the severity. That first go round with a viral infection tends to be intense, regardless of what else you throw at it.

Since this flu bears aspects of bird flu, along with its "sine" segments, all you can do is hope that you get a mild case to begin with.

I think the big crisis has come and gone. The poor little guy who was sick with it when his family came from Mexico died, regrettably. The kids at the Catholic school are recovering. I haven't heard of any major break-outsl

True.

All we have to do now is see how it behaves in those countries where it is currently winter. As peole travel and spread that fortified strain, we will see if all the worry was worth the time.

Everyone ready for round two?

LOL!

Thanks, kernow. The daughter is recovering nicely because she got the medication in time. Her husband also has a strain of it, but not so bad yet, I think. And they said that the quarantine to the house is worse than the symptoms.

I think you're right about this. That report I get every morning had been having 300-500 new cases in America reported each day... but this morning's report lists only 57 new cases for yesterday. It's reporting 9 deaths... in America. Each country has its own numbers.
