Justontime you are not being a misery, the news looks more and more depressing, I think everyone feels very worried.

Probably not, but then we need to remember to take the proper precautions beforehand. I've read to up the amount of VitC and Zinc... don't touch your face in public, don't get into situations where there are tons of people when it could be avoided, etc.

The best way of avoiding picking up the flu (swine or elephant or any other kind), is to keep your hands as clean as possible, sneeze into your arm (if you sneeze in your hand, you've just contaminated it again and need to wash it), stay at home if possible when you and/or your child is ill.
Drinking lots of water, using Vit C, Emergen-C, and getting sufficient rest keeps your immune system up.

Unfortunately most of us have to go to work and most children have to go to school. Even if we take all the precautions there are bound to be some who don't and the infection will spread.

I have my Emergen-C sitting on the table... now to remember to actually make it. It's been there for a few days. Hmmm. What do you think about zinc, HereToday? I've heard a naturopath say to start taking it with C right away and I've heard others say to wait until the first sign of a cold or flu.

I don't think any of those precautions will do you any good except perhaps to let you feel you are doing something to protect yourself. If you are going to get it, there is not much you can do about it.

As I've always understood it, it's not to prevent colds and flu, no... but people who have their defenses built up more have an easier time dealing with the illnesses. Same thing with zinc... nothing prevents it, but you can lessen the severity.

We had a couple cases not to far from us here in Ohio. My youngest did come down with what turned out to be just your average spring cold. But it had me a little nervous there for a moment.

Wow, that must have been horribly frightening! Are the schools closed down in those places where the outbreaks are?

Little did I know when I started this thread that my friend's daughter would be ending up with being a confirmed case of swine flu. They're in another state and she's one of the first in her county.

I've been watching a WHO update page and the numbers are growing every day. I can't wait for the day it starts going the other way. We're over 5k cases in America now.
