Children learn by example so what we do will be a big influence on what they do. If we want them to learn moderation in eating, alcohol consumption or whatever we our actions have to match our words.

That is a good point and children are fast learners so we need to be consistent from the very beginning.

Absolutely... and it seems like so many people forget that. "Do as I say and
not as I do" never works but that appears to be a lesson that's very hard
to learn.

I agree with the others that carob is nothing like chocolate. I think it's bitter and nasty tasting.
Depriving kids of chocolate will only make them eat it when you're not looking.

Chocolate is one of my favorite things in the world... a few years ago on one of my health kicks, I decided to try carob. I actually ended up with the attitude of "if I have to have THAT instead of chocolate, maybe being healthy isn't what it's rumored to be".

Well I was a lot younger, but I'm not sure I wouldn't feel the same now.
