I do wonder about my babies future, knowledge is on the increase and even if you don't allow certains things they will still get access to it. I just plan to raise a strong minded child and also to teach him good moral values.

Yes... and not just "don't tell anyone your personal information" because there are ways they figure things out without being told things like name and address. I remember reading an article once about a police officer who experimented with this... kids who would never give personal info per se say things like their school soccer team won the state championship.

A lot of networking sites list one's state... so right there a predator has it narrowed down to a certain school. At some point the kid might give the name of other things in town, or even their first name.... anyhow, people who look for things like that slowly figure out who the child is, all while the child is thinking they gave out no person information.

The article was certainly an eye opener!

If you're able to start talking to kids early on about the dangers of the internet & how they should behave in order to protect themselves, by the time they are old enough to be surfing alone the message should be firmly ingrained.
