A Fantastic Holiday

So, a week after my bday we left for our holiday in cape town. We just arrived back yesterday so this is my quick update before I have to start back at work tomorrow (SO not in the mood!).
We had a fantastic time, kept really busy & still managed to catch up on lots of sleep. We took the cable car up Table Mountain, went sailing on a catamaran, went to the aquarium, went to cape point, went for a boat ride to seal island by Hout Bay and we saw Robben Island. We also got to go for walks on the beach, massages, watch a few movies and just spent some good quality time together
Not to mention...come thursday eve I just couldn't bare the suspense anymore. We went and bought a pregnancy test...and it came out positive but the line was really light so we went and bought 2 more. I waited until the next morning (which translated into 2:30am) and tried the new (different) test...which also showed up positive but with a really feint line once again. Now this is the funny part, the pharmacist had told us that even if the line was light it was a pretty good sign that I'm pregnant...but just to make sure we didn't have a faulty test my husband peed on the spare test we'd bought just to check the difference...LMAO! YES - the result on his stick was negative
Anyways, the next thing to do was wait 2 days before doing another test (to give the hCG levels time to increase). I did one first thing this morning and another later in the afternoon to show my hubby, and both were nice solid positives
During last week I started to experience tender breasts (which prompted the test) and since last night I have been feeling some cramping. I have read that this is normal and is generally the implantation stage and that the uterus is preparing itself & stretching for the pregnancy.
I phoned my nurse to find out what will happen with my MS meds. She was SO excited to hear the news. Now all I need to do is go get the blood work done to confirm the pregnancy and then they/I will notify the medical aid to put my meds on hold for the duration of the pregnancy. I am on avonex and while there are no established interactions with other drugs, safety has not been proved in pregnancy. I am kinda hesitant (even after 2 stick tests) and just want to wait to make sure my cycle due date passes before I have the blood tests done...I think it will be more real for me then & I will feel more relaxed.
We will wait until after the 8 week mark before telling anyone else, just to make sure we are past the "high risk miscarriage" stage. Apparently after 8 weeks (or more specifically once the doctor hears a heart beat) the chances of a miscarriage drop to 2%.
I best be off to prep and get some R&R in before work tomorrow...ciao for now
